Foodscape Event – Become an olive farmer for a day

Get amongst the groves and be part of the autumn olive harvest 2012.  Hosted by Kangaroo Valley Olives, we’ll visit on of the producer properties in Kangaroo Valley to learn about the process of growing olives and taking them from ‘tree to table’.

To be held on Saturday 14 April, 2012 from 9.30am, the morning will be spent harvesting olives from the groves, touring the property and brine room, learning about storage and processing, and experiencing a guided tasting of Kangaroo Valley Olives products.

And, after your hard work, you’ll relax with your fellow farmers over a delicious lunch showcasing local produce.

Sweet success for local Davidson plum jam

Congratulations Farmer Anthony - I always thought your Davidson plum jam was a winner!  I hear you’ve taken out the bronze medal in the regional food category at the Sydney Royal Fine Food Show – Sweet!

Part of the profits from the plum jam sales are donated to Rainforest Rescue too. The Davidson plum is an example of what we could lose if we don’t conserve its natural habitat.

Masterchef’s Jimmy cooks for Kiama fans

GetAttachment

Foodscape’s Jacqueline recently found herself amongst 50 diners at the Little Blowhole Cafe in Kiama for a dinner prepared by Masterchef ‘final 4’ contestant, Jimmy Seervai. Jimmy is the nephew of cafe owner Cathy and he took time out of his busy schedule to make some of his Masterchef favourites for his South Coast fans. His Prawn Patia was Jacqueline’s fave, closely followed by the chai crème brulee! He even expressed interest in coming on a Foodscape Tour some time! The Little Blowhole cafe specialises in sourcing their ingredients fresh and locally and will feature on Foodscape’s South Coast tours. Jimmy’s new restaurant in Sydney opens in November, the same month he is expecting the arrival of his first child with fiancé Jem.
